This historic town lies 130 kms south-east of kota. Its existence can be traced back to the 7th century when the nagvanshi rulers of central india established their new empire on the banks of the river parvan and called it koshvardhan. In the following years there were many upheavals and koshvardhan passed into the hands of different rulers. One such ruler was sher shah suri and the name shergarh was given to koshvardhan by him. The area in and around shergarh has several monuments of historical importance. The shergarh wildlife sanctuary lies within walking distance.

Shergarh Haveli (Shergarh - Rajasthan)

The mansion was built in the 18th century. Lying on the banks of the parvan river, it is an excellent specimen of contemporary architecture. The haveli has an interesting painted entrance which leads to the central courtyard. Balconies surround the haveli and provide a panoramic view of the river and the fort. Jeep safaris can be arranged to the places of interest around shergarh. Boating, angling in the parvan river and entertainment by local folk artistsn can be organised.
