The village of pachar lies in the shekawati region and was gifted to thakur
guman singh by the maharaja of jaipur for his valour in protecting the state
againist rajah of bharatpur. Surrounded strangely enough by a lake on one side
and sand dunes of the desert on the other, pachar is a traditional farming
village. The local jain temple with its intricate gold and mirror work.
Golden Castle Resort (Pachar - Rajasthan)
the fort of pachar was built in the 18th century and the adjoining golden castle
resort is a later addition. Originally a court, it was given its present shape
by succesive thakurs of pachar. The descendants of guman singh have now opened
their castle for tourists. This building resembles a european country mansion
and has spacious lawns and swimming pool. The castle has interesting chambers
like diwane-khas (dining hall) and the rang mahal(lobby) with its collection of
old family portraits, paintings and arched doorways. The bed rooms are large and
have a traditional style of decor. Boating and angling in the ganpat lake, bird
watching during winter, excursions to the temple of khatu shamji and nearby
villages of shekawati for local crafts, folk dances,camel and jeep safaris can
be arranged. Other facilities available are coffee parlour and conference
arrangements.
