Kota ( Rajasthan ) Kota is a busy industrial town with an incredible number of
vehicles. The main point of attraction here is the fort which houses the museum
and has some elaborately painted chambers. There are other prominent buildings
from the early days and some built in the beginning of the 20th century like
jagmandir, brij vilas palace. Kota abounds in lakes and gardens, thanks to the
presence of chambal river.
UMED BHAWAN PALACE ( KOTA - RAJASTHAN)
Umed
bhawan is one of the most beautiful palaces of kota built in 1009 by maharao
umed singh ii of kota. The palace was designed by sir swinton jacob, who spent
many years in rajasthan and has quite a few palaces & mansions to his credit.
The overall design of the palace is european, although traces of rajput
architecture can be found all over the palace like parapets, balustrades, arches
& decorative brackets. The interiors are mainly european in their style. There
is an edwardian drawing room, a banqueting hall packed with hunting trophies, a
billiard room and a well laid-out garden surrounding the palace. There are
courtyards and long courtyards and long corridors, italian marble floors and
some of the most exquyisite paintings on the ceilings. Jogging track, badminton
court, cards room, two conference halls and a bar are the facilities available.
