Deogarh Castle ( Deogarh - Rajasthan )
The castle is situated on a hillock, which is encircled by the deogarh town.
Built in 1670 a.d. by rawat dwarkadasji of the chundawat clan of the sisodia
dynasty the castle is a fine artistic work of the famed sompura architects, well
known for their craftsmanship. Modifications were carried out in the later years
according to the needs of the residents. With five floors, over two hundred
rooms, numerous balconies with carved pillars and extensive use of marble the
palace is really an imposing monument. Several rooms are decorated with murals
done by local painters after whom the deogarh school of painting has acquired
fame the world over. Another aspect that will impress the tourist is the large
collection of deogarh miniatures. Bhil dances accompanied by the local folk
singers can make the evenings lively and entertaining. Bird-watching on ragho
sagar lake and many picnic spots scattered around the deogarh will be of
interest to the visitors, especially for the nature lovers. Jeep safaris,
arranged on request are also among other out door activities. Tourist
attractions like nathdwara, kankroli, kumbalgarh and ranakpur are all accessible
